
When I told our Japanese friend that I had seen melons in this one shop in the Ebisu station that were priced super high, one for 10,500 yen (about $95), another for 15,750 yen ($143), and one for an outrageous 26,250 ($240), he just chuckled and said, "they must be something very special." I won't be buying one to find out.
This fruit basket was a relative bargain at only 8,400 yen ($76):
