T's colleague invited us out to his family's house in the burbs on Saturday, and we had a great time. His wife, who is Japanese, lived in Germany for several years and is fluent in English, cooked us a feast: octopus stir-fry, Korean-style scallops (spicy, with lettuce to wrap it up in), braised pork, Japanese vegetables sauted in miso, cucumber salad and more. There was beer, and then there was sake....

Our two boys bonded with their 3-year-old daughter over a Japanese cartoon featuring a girl who would cry out, "Shining Stream!" (in English) before turning into some sort of superhero. Later I introduced them to
Orisinal and the kids played a few of those games for a while. I attempted to snap some group photos, but only the grownups would cooperate...
