The Head of School announced today that the decision to keep the school closed for a second week following the quake is based on continuing uncertainties surrounding three main issues:
• The current increase in seismic activity
• The effect of power cuts particularly if another emergency occurs at the same time
• Concerns expressed over the nuclear reactor problems
We already have return tickets for Sunday March 27, so this would work wonderfully -- assuming all is back to normal by then. What seemed somewhat arbitrary when we booked it now seems prescient. I hope it's not overly optimistic.

I was thinking about this - how hard it is for you not to know when it will all be okay again in Tokyo. The best analogy I can come up with is when a loved one is in the hospital. You think you know how things will go, when the person will come home. But the outcome is uncertain. In such cases, I think the best thing is to take it day-by-day. Dont overplan. Just enjoy your family and friends and things American. Try to breathe. Try to live in the moment. Easier said than done, of course.
