another step closer to making more meals at home

Bought a rice cooker today, a compact Zojirushi model with only kanji characters and hiragana and/or katakana letters on the buttons. I still don't know the difference, but apparently written Japanese incorporates all three; "we mix it all together" my teacher says. There is also katakana romaji, which is Japanese language using the Roman alphabet, as in "konichiwa," but I am off point. Back to rice: When I got home I went to the company website, downloaded the English manual for my model, studied the diagrams and instructions and just gave it a whirl, and am happy to report that out came some very edible sticky white rice. Success!!
