Meiji part II

Approaching the entrance to the grounds of the Meiji shrine, we have no idea what we're in for...



As we get closer, the crowd gets denser and the pace slows. There were lots of fashionably-dressed couples but the pair shown here in the foreground (lower left) are my favorite (the girl is wearing a fuzzy leopard print hat; the guy is wearing Chanel sunglasses, complete with double-C logo at the temples):


We finally make it to the shrine to toss our coins and offer up a prayer for the New Year. As our group leaves, the next group waits behind the tape:
